Making Lava - Science Sunday

Linking up with Adventures in Mommydom - Science Sunday

Science Sunday

This week during our Apologia Exploring Creation with Astronomy studies, our project was to "Make Lava."

We were reading and learning about Venus, and how it is the hottest planet in our solar system.  We learned that Venus has thousands of volcanoes.  How lava forms streams was the focus of our project.

Our instructions.

All our supplies.

Adding flour (representing the hillside) around the dish (representing the volcano).

Melting the butter which represented the melting rock.

Pouring the "lava" to see what happens.

Yep, it made streams and rivers.

It's starting to harden.

Checking to see if it is solid again.

"Lab" report.

Noodle had a great time with this project!!!

Butter lava? That's a new one to me. I like that it hardens back up, that adds a nice touch.
