Weekly Report 3/2 - The Whirlwind Week

~What We're Reading~
Me: Columbine by Dave Cullen (continuing where I left off)
Bear: Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Noodle: Ramona Forever by Beverly Cleary on CD

Linking up with Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers

Crazy week!!  It blew by. So much happened.  Over the weekend Noodle had his Cub Scouts Blue and Gold Banquet.  He received his Wolf Badge! Yay!! So proud of him.  He and Daddy made a cake for the Lads and Dads Cake Auction.  It fetched $30 (from me of course!)

Making the cake for the auction.

Final result!!!

Noodle and Daddy - Texas style.

With Daddy, getting a Wolf Badge!

Yummy BBQ Dinner.

Veritas Press Self Paced Online History - loving it!

Passed the test!! Woot!

We learned about the history of the Pledge.

Flag word search.
We learned about Betsy Ross and did a little notebooking.

Astronomy - flap book on the sun.
The weather was overcast all week so we couldn't do our Solar Oven, which is our next science experiment.  It kept us from moving forward in our science - I have issues - I can't move ahead when we aren't done.

I know it seems from the pictures that we didn't do any Math or Language Arts, but I swear we did! We completed a few CLE LA lessons, several Abeka math lessons, did some math drills on the computer, some spelling quizzes online and we also did one Latin lesson.  Bible was every morning too while we ate breakfast, we listened to the CD for Apologia "Who Am I?"  We are really enjoying it.  We didn't get to any of the Bible notebooking pages this week, but we do enjoy the stories.

We never got around to the Johnny Appleseed book, although I did get it from the library.  That and the apple pie will have to be next week.  Since I won't be partaking in the pie, I think we will have to invite Grandma and her hubby over to enjoy it with Noodle.

I am disappointed that TODAY has so many opportunities we can't take advantage of.  Today is Daddy's birthday so we must make a cake.  However, it is also Texas Independence Day and Dr. Suess's birthday! Homeschool Mama Ideas OVERLOAD! I am bummed.  I think we will read a book about Texas that we have on our shelf.  We can also read some Dr. Suess books and I did find a fun Dr. Suess printable on Pinterest, so perhaps we'll do that too.

I leave you today with this funny:

Congrats to your son on his badge! :-) He and his dad looked great, as did their cake. I love when kids help cook/bake! You did accomplish so much! Wow! I am going to look into the history program you mentioned. I look forward to Apologia's Astronomy next year. My kids are already psyched about it! Many blessings for a great weekend! Lisa

I have issues too. lol

We are starting something new in History, and I haven't made up my mind how to execute it, so we haven't done much of anything for history the past two weeks.

Thank you for linking up for another month at NOBH. =)

Way to go noodle for his badge. I can relate to your science issues. Hopefully next week you will get it done.

How great for your son to earn his badge. That is wonderful!

Also I have to laugh at the comic you had at the end of the post. I posted the same one to my Pinterest a few days ago.

Looks like a fun and busy week! Your son did great on the cake! My son went to his Blue and Gold a few months ago, but unfortunately we don't have a cake contest :/ We are doing Apology Astronomy now and my kids enjoy it. We didn't get to do the solar oven,:( But I guess I can always go back and do it :) Thanks for linking up to NOBH! :)
