Homeschool Mother's Journal
In my life this week…Frustration with politics and people who don't think like I do. There I said it. I don't understand people who think "wacky things" and I am sure they don't understand me. I try not to be judgemental, but I fail constantly. I want to like everybody, but darn it some people annoy me with their words and their beliefs and what I perceive as hypocrisy. Yes, we are all hypocrites on some level I guess, but I try to stay pretty consistent with what I believe unless I have genuinely had a change of heart. People that talk out of both sides of their mouth really get on my nerves. It is my biggest challenge as a christian to just keep my mouth shut (or rather my fingers off the keyboard). I should know better by now to get involved in political or controversial discussions on the WTM board. It wasn't anything bad and I didn't do anything to get myself banned, but I just felt icky participating in the thread about OBL. I should have just let it be. Oh well, another live and learn moment. Moving on.
In our homeschool this week…We had our last day of co-op! Yay! We made it! I will have our full weekly report in my Weekly Accomplishments post.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing… Friends at the park. Family. The usual. No exciting field trips or destinations this week. I take that back a little.... Bear went to an Order of the Arrow Ordeal for Boy Scouts. He had fun and is now part of a special brotherhood. I am so proud of him.
My favorite thing this week was… Watching my Noodle play baseball. He's so cute. He has only hit the ball twice all season, but he sure is cute. He was named after a famous baseball player so we have our work cut out for us. Good thing he LOVES the game!
What’s working/not working for us… Chore lists. Not.Working. Actually, the kids aren't working the chore lists, not the other way around. I am not Super Woman (I know, you are shocked =P) and I cannot take care of this whole house, all the animals and all the people by myself. As a one income family I cannot justify a cleaning person and I shouldn't even have to entertain the thought! Some people around here might start missing important events if certain things don't start getting done around here.
Homeschool questions/thoughts I have… I am in shopping mode!! I have a book sale Friday night - I am selling and buying! Woot! I have another one the 13th- just buying! Woot! After that I can start perusing the used listings online and after that I can start ordering new product for what's left on my list.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share… When we were working on installing the floors in the game room I was taking pictures. I decided to take one of the view out the window down to our backyard. See the line/path going through the yard? It leads to the gate leading in to my mother's back yard. The boys have a well worn path to her house! I thought it was funny - I saw it before - but seeing it again just makes me chuckle.

You are so funny, Mary! I love the path to Grandma's house :)
We must have the same friends on facebook..lol I kid but people that dont think like me have also been driving me crazy =)
Thank you for sharing your high school posts. I've been reading and pondering.
Mary,
I love the path in the backyard. I live about 5 minutes away from my parents and I can honestly say that I wish I were closer. Across the street would be nice. I love what you have said regarding political conversations. I am right there with you, it can be difficult to have these discussions with others. We have some differences of opinion in out family and have decided to take the "do not talk about it mode" with some family members. It helps to avoid very heated discussions that usually end up with someone upset. It sounds like you have had a great week. I love the idea of a book sale! I have been buying books like crazy these days.
You need to frame that picture! So precious!!!
I too like to get swept up in the political arena at times. I have to remember to bite my tongue (or slap my typing fingers) quite a bit. I love the photo. What a wonderful testament to family love. Thanks so much for linking up at NOBH. I appreciate your thoughts on so many homeschooling issues.
